TaylorMade PSi Irons

TaylorMade PSi Irons

TaylorMade PSi Irons:

Technology  (100 / 100)

The new TaylorMade PSi irons are quite technologically advanced. The PSi irons still features the straight face slots as before in previous models, but in its head construction TaylorMade has made a big change. The original face slot technology is still used to achieve consistent distance, while also improve distance on miss hits off the toe or heel. The irons have a cut-thru sole slot and thin sub 2mm face that provides a higher COR (coefficient of restitution) from a smaller head size shape; producing a surprisingly long distance, from increased ball speed, in a compact shape. The irons are designed with a multi-material damping system with HYBRAR material, plus tungsten weights in long irons and forged short irons. The Psi Irons provide golfers long irons that optimize ball flight and distance gaps, with short irons that deliver the ultimate feel and control.

The PSi irons are also designed to have a progressive spec package. The blade lengths, toplines, and offsets that gradually progress from 3–PW which are designed to optimize performance for each clubs specific role.

Looks  (98 / 100)

Any player would be happy with the Psi irons look of the top line at address on this mid-sized head. The relative head size is maintained through the set and does not get progressively bigger or smaller. The irons have clean classic lines with carefully considered shaping, which better players prefer to provide confidence at address.

Performance  (100 / 100)

I hit the Psi 7 iron with a KBS Tour C Taper 105S shaft. My carry distance was 186 yards for a total of 194 yards. This is right on one club longer than my current irons. Personally I am quite traditional and like to keep my distances similar, however I could adjust, if my distances stayed one club longer through the entire set. These irons did not seem lighter, but my club head speed was increased, which would explain the distance. I loved the launch numbers at 18.6 degrees, and the spin rate was quite ideal as well. Overall the irons provided more distance and consistency, especially for shots I struck low on the face.

Final Thoughts (overall) (100/ 100)

The Taylor Made PSi irons have everything better players demand from an iron, and so much more. Whether you want superior sound and feel or increased ball speed and distance, you no longer have to compromise. I highly recommend these irons for any scratch player through mid handicapper.
