Mizuno MP-T5 Wedge Review

With 25 loft/bounce options, and no longer needing to adjust and bend, The Mizuno MP-T5 wedge provides players with numerous options for any swing or style in these clean looking wedges. The heads on the MP-T5 wedges are all grain flow forged to match the same feel of the irons and come in 2 different finishes: White Satin, and Black Ion.

Technology (100 / 100)

Miznuo MP-T5

The Mizuno MP-T5 Wedges feature Quad Cut Grooves

Mizuno’s MP-T5 wedges combine the softest feel and spin control available for all types of players. These heads are Grain Flow Forged from a single 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel billet providing players with a soft, solid and consistent feel. The wedges have Quad Cut Grooves. These grooves are CNC milled to increased surface roughness and provide great ball stopping spin on the green. Mizuno’s Quad Cut Groove concept provide a wider, shallower groove for the higher lofted wedges (54-62 degree lofts) to perform optimally on shots around the green where the ball grabs easier with the feel shots. The lower lofted wedges (49-53 degree lofts) have less aggressive grinds with narrow and deeper grooves giving better control on the fuller shots. The availability of choice might be the best part about the MP-T5 wedges. Mizuno offers every loft in a one degree interval from 49 degrees to 62 degrees. With multiple bounce options included throughout the loft range there are 25 loft/bounce options to choose from.

Looks (100 / 100)

The wedges don’t look too different from the previous models MP-T4 look, although the technology and availability of more loft choices speak differently. The MP-T5 wedges are available in two different finishes, a classic white satin look, and a black ion steel look. Both options are designed to maintain their looks over time and will not rust. I personally really liked the black ion look but both look very clean, are a nice sized head, and were a pleasure to look down at.

Performance (100 / 100)

The grooves definitely are the selling point to these wedges. The grooves provided a great amount of spin on the full shots, and chip shots around the greens. The soft feel for the delicate shots provided me with confidence, knowing that the ball would respond how I expected it. I got to play around with a few of the bounce and loft combinations to figure out what really suited my game. It’s nice to be able to take a club off the shelf and not need to bend and play around with it.

Final Thoughts (overall) (100 / 100)

These are some of the nicest wedges I have tried made by Mizuno. If you prefer a heavier feel and feedback around the greens, which most top players do you can’t go wrong with these beauties. The variety and options available make it easy to incorporate the correct gapping in your wedge game for the conditions you are presented with.
